Our Ethics

A jar filled with lemon water and mint, with a caption reading

We’re committed to creating a better planet, and follow a set of principles to try to improve everything we do.  We do our best to adhere to the Triple Bottom Line: working to create a profitable company that is responsible to the people it employs and to the planet.  From the beginning, we have tried to offer innovative solutions, such as offering our products without retail packaging, in an effort to reduce our footprint.  We pay our employees a living wage.

We strive to create products that are:

  • Beautiful, functional and durable
  • Non-disposable, and built to last a lifetime
  • Healthy, with no toxic components
  • Manufactured responsibly by workers earning a living wage
  • Made with sustainable materials
  • Packaged without plastic

Buying on the internet and shipping small packages can generate tremendous waste.  In our small-town shipping center, we strive to minimize all trash, and send out shipments with minimal plastic-free packaging that is 100% recyclable.  We have never used bubble mailers, which usually cannot be recycled.  An independent audit by our local Solid Waste Management facility in 2014 showed that we had achieved 96% waste reduction, but we felt that wasn’t good enough.  We have since reduced our waste further by implementing a program to recycle plastic film, and switching to biodegradable paper tape.  We’re proud to say that we have achieved near 100% waste reduction.

We truly believe that you can do good work while treating the planet well.
