DIY Coffee and Sugar Scrub
Share
Don't throw away those coffee grounds! You can repurpose them in this homemade, exfoliating sugar body scrub.
Coffee makes a great exfoliant. And the caffeine and antioxidants in coffee are also good for your skin! If you want less abrasive scrub, use a finer grind for the coffee. And if you want maximum caffeine, use fresh ground coffee, not used grounds. The other ingredients in this recipe have their own benefits as well. Coconut oil is known to be a great moisturizer and is the perfect medium to hold the sugar and coffee. It smells great too! You can use any type of oil in place of coconut if you prefer, like almond oil, olive oil, or even grapeseed oil. I like to add cinnamon because it smell so good! Cinnamon also contains antioxidants. Plus anti-inflammatory and anti-septic properties make it an excellent addition to this body scrub! I like to make this in small batches, after I've made a cup of coffee. Make sure the coffee grounds have dried out before mixing with the other ingredients!
1 cup of dried coffee grounds (used or fresh)
1/2 cup of coconut oil
1 cup of sugar
1/2 tbsp of cinnamon
You can also add a dash of Vitamin E Oil to help keep the scrub fresher, for longer!
I like to keep my scrub in a mason jar in the shower. Just be careful while using the scrub, because it will make surfaces slippery! Don't slip and fall!
